UPDATE: Nov 4th, 2020: The pre-election state polls were off by an average of 5%. You can see the results at the links below

If the pre-election polls are correct, Joe Biden will become President 89 out of 100 times. So, a key question for Election Night tonight is “are the polls right?” And if they are wrong, how much are they wrong by. Knowing this could help determine who is likely to win.

I put together a Google Sheet showing each state by poll closing time and the expected vote share from 538’s final result for each state.

It will compare that to the actual voting results as they are reported tonight.

This spreadsheet makes it easy to spot trends in how accurate the polls have been and if they are off in a direction favoring Biden or Trump.

The spreadsheet has additional tabs with map views and other charts.

The sheet doesn’t take into effect how early voting and the counting of pre-election and election day ballots could impact the outcome.

Feel free to monitor this webpage during the night:

You can also download your own version to add your own numbers here and clicking Use Template: Only enter results in the green cells.
